Emma Raducanu will attempt to become the first British woman to win a Grand Slam singles title in 44 years when she takes on fellow teenager Leylah Fernandez at Saturday’s US Open women’s final in New York.

Both players have defied expectations. Raducanu is ranked world number 150 and Fernandez 73, yet both the respective 18 and 19-year-olds are to face each other in the tournament’s closing women’s match.

US Correspondent Jamie Johnson explains the hype around both the young stars – particularly Raducanu – and speaks to fans at the tennis centre in Flushing Meadows, Queens to find out who they’re rooting for.
